The Potter Group

The Potter group is “developing new neuroscience technologies for studying learning and memory in vitro.” They are, in essence, attempting to perform artificial intelligence experiments using hybrids of living cells and machines. The lab focuses on building hybrots, which are combinations of mice neurons and robotic technology to better understand the ways in which animals learn to interact with their environments. Other lab efforts include the animat, a virtual animal that is controlled by a culture of neurons.

The Contextual Computing Group

The CCG is a research group dedicated to finding ways to use emerge computing technologies that can adapt to users’ current contexts and enable them to perform day-to-day tasks in a more efficient and informed manner. The group is specifically focused on research involving the usage of wearable computers and building applications that can, specifically, make use of such on-body computational technologies. The CCG is on the cutting edge of integrating technology into the lives of everyday users and providing people with better and more meaningful interactions with technology.
